Ministries
We share a strong commitment to live out Christ’s instruction to “love our neighbors.” And so, this past July the congregation identified three focus areas for putting our faith into action.
* Emergency Needs. A number of people knock on the church’s door when they are homeless, hungry or in need of medical care. How do we respond to them?
* Encouraging the Arts. Our community is home to countless artists and musicians. How can we support and encourage their creativity?
* Affordable Housing. Many of our neighbors cannot afford to live in Greenpoint due to skyrocketing rents and real estate values. What can we do to advocate for affordable housing for all?
Three small groups are working on finding the best ways to address these concerns. If you would like to get involved, please let us know! This is a way for everyone to participate in helping our community, and we need as many thoughts and ideas as possible. For more info or to find a way to help out, email info[at]greenpointchurch [dot]org or call the church at 718.383.5941.
Realizing that Greenpoint lacks a publicized food program and that Jesus instructs us to feed his sheep, the church is starting a weekly food pantry and dinner program. Because so many neighbors are concerned about being able to stay in the neighborhood, we’re organizing a series of teach-ins on affordable housing. And we’ve been hosting monthly Music on Milton nights, opening our building to local artists and are in the process of creating an art gallery in the church parlor.
